Good and bad of summer season

Cross posted from Bangladeshi Women

The summer season is the first season of Bangladesh. It is very hot in this season. It is getting hot day by day. Men become tired because of excessive heat. So in this season educational institutions announce summer vacation. In this time electricity goes out often and does unkind behave. Then older and children’s are suffer no bounds. We can’t use cyber cafe for the load shedding.

In the summer season- ponds, canals even the rivers get dried. For that we don’t get pure drinking water. Excess heat and impure drinking water cause of different kinds of diseases, like-- diarrhea, cholera and allergy etc. For this, many people dislike this season. In this time we wait for heavy rain. I like Rainy season.

Though, it is very hot in summer but many kinds of fruits are available in this time, like-Mango, black-berry, jack-fruits, litchi, water melon, palm, wood-apple, pine-apple etc.

So, this month is called of honey-month. Though all people stay in impatient in the summer, but all tolerate it for the juicy and delicious fruits. But the summer season does not suit me.

I feel proud to be a Bangladeshi

By Jainub Khanam
Pictures taken by Mohtarimun Nahar [Bipa]

Bangladesh is a land of beauty. We got our Bangladesh by giving blood of million martyrs’. We have our own language ‘Bangla’.

There are six seasons in Bangladesh. The common fruits of Bangladesh are-- mango, jack-fruit, black-berry, melon, banana, coconut etc. These fruits are nutritious, delicious and tasty. Some common fishes of Bangladesh are -- salmon, carp boal, rui, katla etc. Hilsha fish is our national fish. It’s very famous in our country. The magpie is our national bird. The White Lily is our national flower. There are many rivers in our country. The Padma, the Meghna, the Jamuna, the Shitolakha and the Karnafuli etc are the main rivers of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is an agricultural country. The soil of Bangladesh is very fertile. So, golden crops grow in our country. Most of the people live in village.

Bangladesh is a beautiful country, but most of the people are poor. Flood is a great problem in our country. Bangladesh suffers from flood almost in every year. Over population is our main problem. It is the main cause of our food shortage. Poor people don't have enough food to eat.

Bangladesh is also famous for Cox's Bazar sea-beach. The scenery of the Cox’s Bazar is amazing. We have Shahid Minar and National memorial. We have patriotic poets, like-- Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jasim Uddin and Michale Modhusudhan Datta. Kazi Nazrul Islam is our national poet of Bangladesh.

I am Bangladeshi. Bangladeshi people are very friendly. We always try to celebrate our all the seasonal occasions together, like—Pohela Boisakh, Pohela Falgun, Nobanno Uthsob etc. I was born in this country. I feel proud to be a Bangladeshi. I love my country very much.

Today it was Raining Heavily

Mohtarimun Nahar [Bipa]

Today it was raining heavily. At that moment I was in Nari Jibon office. The students didn’t come for the heavy rain. The weather became very wonderful. There is water everywhere. Still I don’t know how I will go home today. The roads are drowned by rain water now. We will have to face the problem of transportation. But we are very happy to get this rain in this hot season. I took some pictures of rain from my office room’s veranda; those I would like to share with all the blog readers.

A Way to Cultivate

Written & Video taken by Mohtarimun Nahar [Bipa]
Video edited by Tarun Falia

Some months ago I went to my village. Then I tried to capture some village culture, nature and agricultural system by my video camera. Maybe you read my previous article and watched video on home made cake making [The best time to have Pitha is in the Winter Morning] and the shrine [A Shrine of Hazrat Shah Kamal Awlia beside my Village]. You also may have seen ‘Some Pictures of my Village’.

When I went to visit our land then I saw and learned about how to cultivate lands before sowing seeds. That’s why I took a short video on it and would like to share with all the readers of Nari Jibon Blogspot. I hope you will enjoy the video.
